Information for families on camping at 4-H Camp Palmer

What is 4-H Camp?

We have reserved 4-H Camp Palmer for a fun-filled week of activities the week of July 5-9, 2012. 4-H Camp Palmer is 150 acres of woods, streams and fields. Programs include swimming, canoeing, indoor/outdoor recreation, nature hikes, sports of all sorts, crafts and fishing. Each day starts with a Polar Bear Swim and ends with a night of campfire and line dancing. 4-H Camp is five days spent with friends while learning new skills and having fun!

Campers stay in cabins with a fully trained American Camper Association certified teen from either county. Adult staff provide support to programming and the camp has two Nurses and emergency medical staff on call at all times.

The camp fee includes lodging, three meal plus one snack per day, all activities (except challenge course & shooting sports), camp insurance and a camp T-shirt.

Registration Information

4-H Camp is open to youth ages 9-15. Please contact the office if you have questions about your child and their ability to register for camp.

Challenge by Choice (High Ropes) $20.00 Extra

The experience of a lifetime. Challenge by Choice is a series of low and high initiative activities designed to build teamwork and encourage group activity under the guidance of a professional, skilled instructor. Challenge by Choice begins with a simple trust exercise and gradually progresses into more difficult challenges. The final phase is an adventure 20 feet off the ground with the High Aerial Challenge Course. In order to participate 4-H’ers must be able to reach 6 feet 2inches and be at least 11 years old. Participation is limited to twelve (12) participants and will be taken on a first return basis.  

Shooting Sports $10.00 Extra

Campers will spend a jam packed morning  introducing safety techniques and supervised rifle shooting. Youth will practice safety, response to range commands, learn basic shooting fundamentals, clean and maintain equipment, learn about eye and ear protection, develop shooting skills, explore conservation issues and compete in shoots. Club advisors are certified through the Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports program and also through the county volunteer program.

Members can deposit money into a “Bank” for buying shaved ice, pop or candy from the Camp Palmer store. We are NOT responsible for money not deposited into the Bank at Camp.
