Hazardous Algae Blooms have been documented in the major Ohio water resources of Lake Erie and Grand Lake St. Marys. Hazardous Algae Blooms are caused by a form of bacteria called cyanobacteria. Even though they are called blue/green algae, they are different from filamentous algae commonly found in many Ohio ponds and lakes.

Unusual Early Spring and Crabgrass Control
Spring has been unusually warm and our early blooming flowers and shrubs are in full bloom. As of the end of the past week, the monthly mean temperature in Columbus, OH was between 53 and 54 degrees, which is the normal monthly mean for April. In addition, if one looks out the window they will see the Forsythia in full bloom, which is the indicator plant that tells us it is time to put down a preemergence herbicide.
