Sheep and Goat Health School 2012

            The Ohio Sheep Improvement Association (OSIA), The Ohio State University Extension and the OSU Sheep Team are sponsoring a 4-session series on the topic of sheep and goat health on Monday evenings in February from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  The meetings will be broadcast from Knox County and delivered to remote host sites by the web ex distance learning technology.  OSU Extension, Athens County is a host site and will be offering the sheep and goat health school at the Athens SWCD Meeting room located in the USDA building at 69 S Plains Road, The Plains.  Hal Kneen, Extension Educator Ag/NR in Meigs and Athens Counties will be facilitating the meetings.

            The web ex technology allows participants to view the presenter’s power point slides and to hear their voice.  Participants also have the opportunity to ask questions and have the presenters respond to those questions.  Here are the dates, presenters and topics for the sheep and goat health series:

 

February 6, 2012 – Dr. Bill Shulaw, OSU, “Lambing and Kidding Management and 

Newborn Health Issues”                     

February 13, 2012 – Jeff McCutcheon/Rory Lewandowski, OSU “Internal Parasites”

February 20, 2012 – Dr. Leo Timms, Iowa State University, “Udder Health and Mastitis”

February 27, 2012 – Dr. Eric Gordon, OSU, “Recognizing, Treating, and Preventing Major Diseases of Sheep and Goats”

 

            The cost of the program is $5 per person.  Pre-registration is requested but not required.  To register contact the Athens County Extension office at 593-8555
