If you are a private pesticide licensed applicator and need three hours of recertification time a session will be held at the Lorain County OSU Extension Office, 42110 Russia Rd., Elyria on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Pre-paid registration is required! All registrations are being handled by OSU Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program in Columbus.

Most gardens are planted by now, but homeowners will continue to fill in spots, replace plants and tweak the landscape. Garden centers are still well stocked with plant material to do so. However, as landscapes begin to mature, so do the insect and disease pests that feed on them. For instance, the fungal disease, anthracnose, has already caused major defoliation in sycamore, ash and oak trees.
