Fruit

Home fruit production can be a rewarding experience. Many gardeners take great pride in being able to grow fruits in their home fruit plantings. Some of the commonly grown fruits are apple, cherry, pear, peach, nectarine, blackberry, blueberry, grape, and strawberry. Some gardeners also sell their fruits at local farmer’s market.

Newly published in 2009 this extensive bulletin will cover cultural practices and pest management of berries to Apples and Pears.  Discusses the benefits of growing fruit at home, fertilization, pruning, and polination.  An excellent publication for all you fruit growers.

 Brambles: Diseases and Insects:  - $13.50 plus tax  

This bulletin is intended to serve as a complete source for brambles production (black and red raspberries), an important aspect in the farm retail marketing system. Getting started, management, harvesting, marketing, and disease control are all thoroughly discussed and displayed in this guide.

 

Midwest Grape Production Guide:  - $16.50 plus tax

The Midwest Grape Production Guide is an extensive instruction manual on establishing, managing, harvesting, and marketing for grape operations and includes information ranging from site selection to fertilization. This bulletin also describes how to manage and identify grape diseases as well as pest control methods for insects, weeds, and wildlife.

  

Midwest Small Fruit Pest Management Handbook: - $23.75 plus tax

This small fruit pest management handbook is presented in an ongoing attempt to better serve Midwestern fruit growers and contains information on small fruit production methods and pest management practices that should not change on an annual basis.

Midwest Strawberry Production Guide: - $13.25 plus tax

The Midwest Strawberry Production Guide is an extensive instruction manual for established strawberry growers and those who are just starting out. This book contains the most comprehensive and regionally relevant information currently available on growing strawberries for profit. This guide has in-depth information on current varieties and production practices, plasticulture in the Midwest, and pest control recommendations for insects, diseases, and weeds with full-color photos.
