Welcome to Clark County Horticulture
The horticulture program in Clark County is staffed by Horticulture Educator/County Extension Director, Pam Bennett; Program Assistant Carolyn Allen; Office Associate, Jo Brown; Office Assistant Kathy McConkey; and 112 Master Gardener volunteers. The program features the Gateway Learning Gardens which includes field trials of annuals, a turf research plot, phenology garden, herb garden, heritage vegetable garden, children’s garden, victory garden, and mixed border perennial displays for both shade and sun. Master Gardener volunteers answer gardening questions throughout the growing season on the Horticulture HelpLine. Additionally, volunteers work with the SEEDS Community Garden program to support 31 community gardens and the Ohio State University Extension Victory Garden. Staff also assists with commercial horticulture production questions.
Our goal is to extend information from the university to the public in the area of horticulture and its related fields, including growing and pest management so that gardeners and commercial producers alike can be more efficient in growing plants, and be mindful of environmental stewardship.
